In an effort to scale up and document best practices, the Russian Federation has provided funding to beadministered by WHO to support improved quality of pediatric care project in four selected countries incentral Asia and Africa. Within the framework of this Project, WHO in collaboration with Scientific Centre forChild Health of the Russian Academy of Medical Science and other technical experts will provide technicalassistance to Angola, Ethiopia, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to strengthen their national health systems’capacity to improve the quality of pediatric care in the first-level referral hospitals.The main goal of the project is to reduce childhood mortality through strengthening national health systemscapacity in improving the quality of pediatric care for common childhood illnesses in the first-level referralhospitals.This is the report from the second mission that aimed at conducting Trainers meeting and preparation for thetraining course (02 July), training course on how to use the WHO Pocket book on Hospital Paediatric Care(03-06 July), training and preparation for Hospital Assessment (07 July), Planning of Hospital Assessment (9July), Direct Assessment of the Quality of Paediatric Hospital Care in 10 district hospitals in Tajikistan (10-17July), the National Debriefing Meeting with group of key national stakeholders on preliminary findings,recommendations and plan of actions (18 July, 2012).
