Tóm tắt :

iv, 118 p. The objectives of this study were: to review briefly some aspects of the literature on crisis intervention and psychiatric emergency services, of special interest to psychiatrists; to select and visit a number of centres in Europe that have special experience in psychiatric aspects of crisis intervention work; and to describe the setting and methods of work of the centres visited, giving special emphasis to aspects often not mentioned in published reports such as details of daily work programmes, relationships with other services and the development of multidisciplinary teamwork. It is hoped that the information presented here will be of help to those concerned with the provision of emergency services, whether in a medical, social, or administrative capacity. The study was thought to be justified because of signs that there is a quickening of interest in this comparatively new field of work in a number of European countries. Although the available literature is extensive, it rarely contains much detailed information to illustrate the functioning of the various types of service. Consequently, the bulk of this report is devoted to descriptions of units and services visited in the course of the study, so that the reader can obtain some idea of their working arrangements and how relevant they might be to his/her own interests and requirements.
